Experience the Underground Railroad Experience Trail at Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park in Sandy Spring, or follow in the footsteps of a Union soldier along the Potomac. Want to become an awesome camp counselor and earn Student Service Learning (SSL) hours while learning? The first week of this two week program you will learn the basics in archaeological methods, get CPR/ First Aid Training, and practice creating and planning camp activities. The second week, you will dig into the real thing! You'll assist camp staff while you work with campers and have an opportunity to ask questions and get feedback in our counselors' afternoon roundtables.

Curious campers will investigate and explore Brookside Gardens to discover the fascinating plants and animals that make their homes here. Arts and crafts, games and gardening are all in a day’s fun as we spend time indoors and outdoors connecting with nature.

Calling all creative children who love to make art and don’t mind getting dirty! Explore the garden from an artist’s perspective through different artistic techniques and various media each day. From painting to gardening, campers will unleash their inner artists to craft works of art inspired by horticulture and nature.

Let us cultivate your children’s interest in the natural sciences with hands-on, inquiry based experiments and activities in a beautiful garden setting! Each day, campers will unlock the scientific mysteries found in the gardens through experiments, observations, games and more.

Take action and understand our impact on climate and the environment in this week-long camp. Each day will examine a different environmental issue through indoor and outdoor activities with a focus on actions you can take to make a positive change in the world around you. Campers will earn 10 SSL hours based on participation in the service component each day.

It's a week of water-filled fun! Plan to get wet (and muddy) as we explore our bit of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. We'll investigate fresh and saltwater habitats through hands-on experiences like sampling for water-dwelling animals and performing simple water tests. We’ll take daily trips to local creeks and streams and a Friday field trip to the Chesapeake Bay. We'll also spend time boating and fishing as we learn all about water, the plants and animals that live there, and how to better care for our watershed. Girls belong in nature, enjoying outdoor adventures! Join us for a girl-centered camp that will focus on outdoor explorations in hiking, fishing, geocaching, boating, and so much more. Spend camp days trekking the forests and hills in search of grand adventures and meet with professional nature girls who work and play outside. Each day will, no doubt, be an epic escapade with a great team of campers. Please note there will be one extended day of camp so that we can go on a longer trip. Climb a tree, play in the creek, build a campfire, go boating, and then maybe do some fishing...it’s time to enjoy some outdoor adventure together! Campers will join a park naturalist to try out different adventures all around the park. We will send an interest checklist ahead of time to see what you would like to try and then each day we will search out an adventure depending on our interests. Do you love being outside and want to learn some leadership skills? Then join us to take your camp experience to the next level. Spend quality time with Park Naturalists learning how to create and implement quality programs for kids at summer camp. In between working on leadership, communication, group dynamics and creative skills, you will also spend time going on adventures to explore careers in parks. This course will include first aid and CPR training as well. This is a 10-day camp with the first week being a training week and the second week being a chance to work directly with a camp. The listed dates are for the required training week. After registration we will contact you to work out a second week to practice your skills with real campers. FOBH $295

Join us for our first action and service camp! Campers can earn service hours while making friends, learning new skills, all while having fun. We’ll kayak around the lakeshore picking up trash as we go, brainstorm ideas and make improvements to our Nature Play Spaces, and work on other projects in Parks. Campers will also meet park staff from Pope Farm, Community Gardens, and other park units, learning about their jobs, and how they are working to improve Parks and our local environment. This is an awesome opportunity to give back to your community while having fun and practicing your stewardship skills. FOBH $295

Beat the heat this summer at the ice rink! This full-day camp includes a morning 30-minute group ice skating lesson and afternoon open skating time for practice. Lesson groups are organized by age and skating ability and no previous skating experience is necessary. We'll spend the rest of the day doing fun indoor and outdoor activities including crafts, board games, and fitness activities both indoors and outdoors. Rental skates are included in the camp fee for skaters who need them. Please bring comfortable athletic shoes, a non-perishable lunch (no nut products please), a reusable water bottle, and snacks to last for a full day of camp.

Prerequisite: Passed Hockey 2 or equivalent. If your child loves hockey, why not treat them to a week long hockey camp? This camp will focus on improving individual player skills and teaching game concepts. Skaters will have stations on skating, stick handling, shooting, passing as well as games to improve team play and strategy. Each camper will receive a hockey jersey and will be assigned to groups according to skill level. Full hockey gear is required for camp including a mouth guard. Rental skates are available for use during camp. Please bring athletic shoes for off-ice workouts, snacks, and a water bottle.

Prerequisite: Passed Youth Ice Skating 4. This camp will introduce figure skaters to a variety of types of figure skating. Skaters will work on freestyle skills (jumps and spins), beginning ice dance, moves in the field, synchronized skating, and choreography. It will be a great opportunity for skaters to try many new elements and types of skating! Camp is designed for skaters at the Youth 5 to Free Skate 3 levels. Please bring sneakers for off-ice workouts, snack, and a water bottle.

Skaters who participate in a Cabin John specialty hockey or figure skating camp in the morning may register and join the fun at our Summer Fun Ice Skating Camp in the afternoon! Campers will enjoy skating practice and games, outdoor activities, arts & crafts and more. Only open to campers registered for a hockey or figure skating camp in the corresponding morning. This camp will end at 5:00 pm. Please bring a non-perishable lunch (no nut products please), snacks and water bottle each day.

Think you have what it takes? In this action-packed adventure that closely follows a storyline, you and your friends must work together to survive in the wilderness. You'll build your confidence outdoors by meeting daily challenges to find food, water and shelter. Can you identify wild edible plants? Build a solar still to purify drinking water? Start a fire without matches? We'll learn together through fiercely fun games and collaborative activities.

A camp just for our younger explorers to play and learn alongside our animal neighbors, such as chipmunks, frogs, turtles, birds and more! Campers will be introduced to our Nature Center's resident animal ambassadors and engage in nature based play and exploration. Campers must be fully toilet trained and able to dress themselves.

Summer Campers don't have to "age-out" anymore- now they can start learning responsibility and the skills necessary to become a confident and competent camp counselor. Camper Assistants will work with Naturalists and Counselors to develop leadership and group management skills. They will spend most of the day with younger campers, gaining experience with different activities from arts and crafts to nature exploration.

Get wet and go wild this summer with Creek Explorer's Camp ! This water world camp will explore the cool things happening near and in our local stream. Learn through games, demonstrations, experiments and play about the unique aspects of stream life and how to keep our streams healthy. Water shoes, a towel, and a change of clothes are required! Warning: You will get wet!

Hike a mile in a Naturalist's shoes! Spend a week learning what it's like to care for our live animal ambassadors, steward our gardens and stream, be a community scientist and an advocate for wildlife. Each day we'll learn through wildly fun games, imaginative play, and activities that give back to nature.

For youth that love learning and discovery in the natural world. Every day, all day long, we will be in the field. We will be hiking along the Billy Goat Trail, learning about wetland ecology, kayaking, fishing, exploring the world of raptors, search for treasure on a geo cache excursion, and more. This camp is a great way to deepen your child’s understanding of and connection to the natural world. NOTE: CAMP DATES ARE JULY 22nd - 26th.

Join us as we explore the C&O Canal by bike. We will start our 100-mile journey along the towpath in Paw Paw, West Virginia and travel east towards Harpers Ferry, West Virginia on this four day and three-night camp. We will be stopping along the way to learn about the natural and cultural history of the area. This is a physically demanding camp. Participants must be able to bike 30 miles a day with scheduled rest periods. Campers must provide their own bike, helmet, and attend precamp meetings. Tents, meals, and transportation are provided. NOTE: Camp runs from 8am Monday until 3:30pm on Thursday and includes three consecutive nights of primitive camping.

Looking for a camp for your child to make friends, spend time outside, and explore nature while using their senses?
SENSE-sational Summers at Meadowside is a program intentionally designed for sensory and/or processing, neurodivergent campers. Fast pace or slow, loose instruction or help step-by-step, camp staff are dedicated to meeting the needs of each camper during activities and lesson. Campers can expect to go on hikes, learn about ecosystems and habitats while using their senses, say “hello” to the nature center animals, make a splash in Rock Creek, and create sensory crafts.
*This camp will provide a low staff-camper ratio of 1:2 (one teacher for every two campers) and class size will remain small. Every parent/guardian must complete a Modification Intake Form to help us learn about each camper and submit these forms at least two weeks before the start of camp. One on one supervision is not available.
Activities are subject to change due to inclement weather, camper needs, and interest. Most outdoor surfaces are not paved, and the trails will be a mix of uneven dirt (small hills, tree roots, and small rocks), grass, and/or mulch.
