Making Fire
Learn a variety of outdoor skills in any of our workshops.
In the wilderness, fire is survival. Learn to start a campfire using only what you find outside and without the use of matches. No experience required, beginners are welcome, for ages 6 and up. Please register each child and adult. This program is meant for those eager to learn campfire making skills, each child should be registered and accompanied by a registered adult caregiver since both will be learning campfire making skills side by side.
This hands-on workshop is for families to become confident fire-creators (without camp stoves):
-How to forage natural tinder in the woods
-The difference between tinder, kindling, and fuel - and when to use each
-Reading the needs of a fire by understanding the "Fire Triangle"
-How to build a fire to suit various environments and weather conditions
Please dress comfortably with the weather in mind. Space is limited and registration is required for this program.
